| Once the scene of a dreadful battle where thousands of Canadians died in an Allied raid on Dieppe, today only sun-soaked tourists sprawl on the stony beach and the mood is one of lazy peace. An imposing 15th century chateau overlooks the ocean from its eyrie perch high on the cliffs and an old gothic church stands in the town undergoing repairs and refurbishing. Other than the few historic buildings and pebbled beach, Dieppe has little to shout about, which is possibly, why some find it the perfect retreat.

Cite de la Mer This museum of all things oceanic contains aquariums, exhibits of fishing methods, and explains the importance of the maritime economy in Dieppe.
