Le Havre Overview
The biggest transatlantic port in France was founded in 1517, has a population of 200,000 and very little else to speak of. There are some entertaining attractions though, should one find oneself stuck in Le Havre, such as the Havana Café where the ambience is decidedly Cuban, or the Espace Coty, the shopping centre where you can spend a few bucks, or buy a decent cup of coffee. A good plan is to contact the tourist office where you can get information on where to go and what to see.

Le Havre Essentials
Jardine Sarraute – Weeping Willows and a soothing quiet ease the harshness of man’s fixation on concrete in this 500-year-old city.

Musee des Beaux Arts Andre Malraux – Displayed in the airy modern museum are works to make the art lover rejoice, among them Monet, Manet, and Gauguin.

Pl. de l’hotel de Ville – Ivy-covered walkways and cool, sparkling fountains refresh and lend a touch of beauty for the tired eyes of the busy visitor.

Eglise St-Joseph – Once there was an architect who turned everything he saw into concrete and he came to Le Havre. He created many monstrosities including this tall church.

Maison de la Culture – A state of the art theatre that hosts famous orchestras and productions, as well as new releases of film.
