| It must be quite a city when the travelogues open their descriptions of Lille with mention of its hectic nightlife. Everything becomes clear though when one realises its strategic position and that it is a major hub of the transportation system, has a population of 175,000, of which 25% are under 25, and is frequented by a very large and very thirsty student body. There is more to Lille than its vast array of pubs and bars though, and the first on a list of attractions must be its excellent collection of art, on view in the Musee des Beaux-Arts. |
